Couples Therapy
-
I help couples build solid communication skills, uncover and change unhelpful patterns, and work towards rebuilding a connection for a more meaningful relationship.
-
I utilize an integrative approach that treats each couple for their unique needs. I primarily use three approaches in couples counseling.
Gottman Method, which teaches evidence-based communication and connection.
Emotionally focused therapy, which helps couples develop a deeper connection and uncover their unhelpful cycle.
Imago Therapy, which helps couples discuss the impact of their childhoods on their relationship, as well as teaching valuable communication skills to create better understanding and connection.
-
As someone who has been trained in both individual and couples counseling, they are very different. You need a couples therapist who has specialized and advanced training, as we have a better understanding of how to see couples as a whole relationship rather than separate individuals.
-
Absolutely! I work with people in polyamorous, non-monogamous, monogamish, and many other relationship structures. I have training and knowledge in alternative relationship dynamics and I believe these relationships are just as valid as monogamous relationships.
-
Most counselors and therapists in general are not well-trained to work with human sexuality. We get maybe one course on it in our programs, which is ridiculous!
Having a couples therapist who has specialized and advanced training in sexuality can help you one of the most important aspects of your relationship. The erotic component of our romantic relationships is typically a very important one that deserves attention and care!
Sex Therapy
-
Not yet! I am currently in the process of attaining my sex therapy certification from the Sexual Health Alliance. This is a process that requires significant advanced training and supervision, which ensures that I get specialized training to effectively work with sexual difficulties.
-
Absolutely not. That would be a severe violation of ethics, not to mention an abuse of power. If you have a therapist who is having, suggesting, or attempting to have sex with you, please report them to DORA and to the authorities.
-
I work with individuals struggling with desire discrepancy, low libido, erectile issues, out of control sexual behavior, and sexual performance issues.
I also work with kink, polyamory, non-monogamy, swinging, and BDSM dynamics from a sex-positive and accepting framework.
-
Absolutely! I welcome all members of the queer community. I work with all genders and all identities. I hope that in my office you feel seen, heard, and validated!
-
Sex-positive therapy means taking a positive view of human sexuality and validating forms of sexual expression without judgment. So, clients engaging in kink, fantasy, fetish, non-monogamous relationships can all expect to be in an environment of non-judgment, welcoming, and appreciation for the wide variety of sexuality that comes with being creative and human!
