Has Your Relationship Lost Its Spark?

Maybe you just had one conversation too many where you’re not understanding each other, or perhaps you are tired of the disconnected nights on the couch. You may be feeling lonely in your relationship, or simply unsure how you can get your once thriving relationship back on track. Perhaps you’re feeling anxious that your relationship might not make it.

Whatever it is you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact in every facet of your life:

    • Feeling disconnected as parents

    • Lacking fulfillment in your sex life

    • Struggling with low self-esteem at work, home, and in other relationships

    Couples Therapy Can Help

It may feel impossible now, but you can rebuild your relationship. You can feel connected again. You can communicate lovingly with your partner. And I can help you get there.

Couples therapy helps you do four things:

    • Better communicate your needs to your partner and hear what they need from you

    • Create a safe relationship where you both feel valued

    • Build new relationship habits that help you thrive

    • Understand why you act the way you do in a relationship, so that you can move forward with empathy and love together

I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique relationship needs. My approach to couples therapy comes from a place of empathy and hope: understanding that both you and your partner are good people who are stuck in a bad cycle that you can overcome together.

 FAQs

  • Couples therapy sessions will consist of learning to talk more effectively to each other, utilizing communication skills and your own unique emotional experience. We will work together to uncover unhelpful cycles in your relationship, learn new ways to communicate, and utilize exercises to understand each other more deeply. I will be there to guide the exercises and help you communicate in new ways to prevent old conflicts.

  • Every relationship is unique and there is no real way to know exactly how long therapy will take. Sometimes couples come in thinking they will only need a few sessions and we end up working for a year on deeper relationship issues. Sometimes a couple comes in with what they expect will be big issues that take a while, but they get what they need in just a few sessions. I will always be flexible with the needs of your relationship and help you to define what “success” in couples therapy looks like in your unique relationship.

  • It can be very nerve-racking to start couples therapy, especially when there are no guarantees it will “work.” I have found that my most successful couples have a few key traits: they genuinely love each other, they are ready to do the work, and they are willing to take responsibility for their own role in the relationship struggles. If those sound like you, then you will likely be a good candidate for successful couples therapy.

  • To get started on your couples therapy journey, you can reach out to me via phone or email to let me know what your relationship is needing and to ask me any questions you might have. If it feels like this is the right fit for your relationship, I will get you scheduled for our first session and send you some initial paperwork to fill out. Again, I am always open for any questions at any point of the process!
